Welcome to Los Angeles Air Force Base, home to Space Base Delta 3 and our Field Command, Space Systems Command (SSC). We are the only active duty military installation in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, located just two miles south of Los Angeles International Airport in El Segundo, Calif.
Space Base Delta 3 includes all of the base support services: 61st Medical Squadron, 61st Civil Engineer and Logistics Squadron, 61st Communication's Squadron, 61st Force Support Squadron, 61st Security Forces Squadron, Base Chaplains and a host of other support functions. LAAFB has over 7K personnel assigned, with $1 billion in physical plant assets and has a $61.4 million annual budget.
Our co-located Field Command, SSC, is responsible for developing, acquiring, equipping, fielding, and sustaining lethal and resilient space capabilities for warfighters. As part of fielding, the command is responsible for launch operations, on-orbit checkout, developmental testing, sustainment and maintenance of military satellite constellations and other Department of Defense space systems. With an $15 billion space acquisition budget, SSC has a total of 15k personnel spread across 16 geographically separated units across the country.

Los Angeles AFB is the only active duty installation in Los Angeles County. In addition to persons assigned to SSC and SBD3, Los Angeles AFB serves all military branches in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Child Development Centers:
Los Angeles AFB's Child Development Center provides care for children six weeks through five years of age. CDC programs include full time care and drop in care. The Family Child Care program offers home-based child care in licensed homes for children ages two weeks through twelve years: (310) 653-6800
Medical care for Los Angeles AFB members is provided by the 61st Medical Squadron in Bldg. 210. A satellite clinic is located at the Fort MacArthur military housing area. Emergency medical care is not available at either clinic. Ensure you update yours and your dependents region to Tricare West online or by calling: 1-844-866-WEST (1-844-866-9378). Students can attend local schools based on where they live however, California law allows exceptions for military children to attend schools of their choosing if the school approves a pupil transfer. All school information can be found here: School Liaison Office or by calling the SLO at (310) 653-8631.
The Teen Center/Youth Center at Los Angeles AFB are the best in the Air Force, a model for all other bases! The Junior Teen program is designed for youth 13-15 years old, while the Senior Teen Club is for youth 16-18 years old. Activities include: Competitive Sports, Aerobics, Table Games, Computer/Homework Center, Cultural Field Trips, Teen Chatter, and Youth Advisory Council Members. Both Junior and Senior Clubs are located at the Fort MacArthur Teen Center, Building 425.

There is no shuttle bus service between Los Angeles AFB in El Segundo and base housing at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro. The Metrorail Green Line (from Norwalk to Redondo Beach) has a stop conveniently located one block from the main gate at the Douglas Street station with a connecting LAX shuttle bus at the Aviation/LAX station.
Shuttle service between Los Angeles AFB and LAX is operated by Aerospace Corporation and runs every 20 minutes from 5:40 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The shuttle travels from the Aerospace Corporation to LAX and back.
Some parking spaces at Los Angeles AFB are reserved during duty hours. There are 125 "numbered" reserved parking spots for key personnel and passes are set aside for those designated by commanders and directors. All other unnumbered/unlabeled parking spaces are open for employee/customer use. Parking by the BX/Commissary is for those customers only. POV overnight parking is only allowed at Los Angeles AFB for essential on-duty personnel or personnel approved by the Security Forces Squadron.

Due to the number of inquiries received on a daily basis, if there is no initial response when calling, customers can expect a call back within 3-5 business days if leaving a message through voicemail.
If already assigned to base network after completing IT portion of in-processing checklist and CAC is readily available, customers can also create an inquiry on our Comptroller Services Portal (CSP) at https://usaf.dps.mil/teams/SAFFMCSP/portal (CAC Enabled). Due to the number of inquiries received on a daily basis, customers can expect a response within 3-5 business days if using this method to contact our office.

The Chaplain Office at Los Angeles Air Force Base provides a wide range of services and support for the military, their family members and Department of Defense employees.
