Los Angeles Air Force Base Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
The base observes the month-long event by handing out a Hispanic Heritage Month cookbooks. Senior Airman Holdyn Barnes, SSC/CSS, left, hands Tech Sgt. Sipho Sekou, SSC/CSS, one of the Hispanic Heritage cookbooks and discusses the delicious recipes found in the book. National Hispanic Heritage Month pays tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America, and who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. The observation was enacted into public law on August 17, 1988, under President Ronald Reagan, since then it has been celebrated from September 15 to October 15. Other activities planned for the month include a Futbol (soccer) match, Piñata party, Dia de Los Muertos 5K run and a Café y Pan Dulce tasting.
