News Briefs Published April 4, 2007 By Public Affairs SMC Los Angeles Air Force Base -- Here's what's happening here of interest to base personnel, their familiies and retirees: AFSO21 Immersion Day to be Held In support of the Air Force Smart Ops for the 21st Century (AFSO21) initiative, Brig. Gen. Neil McCasland, SMC Vice Commander, will host an AFSO21 Immersion Day, April 17. It will be held in the Gordon Conference, Bldg. 270. The presentations will help the men and women of SMC understand that each person has the ability to affect change and participate in process improvement. Representatives from Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing will share their experiences and successes using AFSO21 and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. Times have set up for each wing and functional to attend the AFSO21 training session: 0800-0930 - MC,EA,PI 1000-1130 - GP,PK,IG,HO,FM,BC 1300-1430 - LR, ABW 1500-1630 - IS, SY, SN, SD, XR Point of contact for this event is Donte Tanner, 653-1820 Volunteers to be recognized at luncheon Many Air Force members, civilian employees, their families, as well as military federal retirees, volunteer to serve others. Volunteers form Los Angeles Air Force Base will be recognized at a luncheon to be held on the patio in front of Bldg. 270, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 23. The "Volunteer Excellence Award" and the "Angel Award" will be presented to volunteers for their outstanding service. Registration is required to attend the luncheon.
