Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif. - Women’s History Month is celebrated each year in the United States during the month of March. It was established as a month-long National celebration in 1987 to commemorate and honor the tremendous contributions women have made throughout history and today’s society. International Women’s Day falls every year on 8 March, and this year’s theme is, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.”

This year, we have many Women’s History Month activities planned aimed to honor the importance of women empowerment. Our goal is to inspire and encourage connections.

* Weekly profiles highlighting women throughout history, as well as SSC women
* Tea Time events—30-minute themed discussions led by influential women leaders
* A Fireside chat discussion focused on women in leadership
* Networking opportunities

Furthermore, the Secretary of the Air Force’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion (SAF/DI), in partnership with the Women’s Initiatives Team (WIT), is hosting the second annual Women’s Air and Space Power Symposium on 08 March through 10 March. This virtual symposium is a professional development event focused on improving force readiness while building knowledge and understanding among the Airmen, Guardians and leaders who attend. Participants must register in advance if planning to attend.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we should each reflect on the amazing accomplishments led by women in history, women at Los Angeles Air Force Base and women in our daily lives.
