The SMC Heritage Center
The Space and Missile Systems Center Heritage Center is currently a field heritage activity for the National Museum of the Air Force. It is a complex of historical exhibits and monuments to Air Force space and missile development, located both indoors and outside.
Most of the historical exhibits are contained within the main ground floor lobbies of the Space and Missile Systems Center headquarters buildings of the Schriever Space Complex at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, Calif.
The SV-5D/X-23 PRIME (Precision Recovery Including Maneuvering Entry) unmanned lifting body display, along with The "Rock," Armillary Sphere (aka The Space Motif), Gen. Schriever Memorial and Wall of Honor are located outside.
The SMC Heritage Center preserves the rich aerospace history of the Los Angeles County area mainly centering on the United States Air Force military space programs and contributions to civilian space capabilities.
