Airmen & Family Readiness Programs to Help Deployed Airmen and Their Families We offer a variety of programs and services that help alleviate some of the stresses caused by family separation. Our programs range from communicating with your spouse to providing activity books for children that help them understand why Mom or Dad had to go away for a little while. In addition to these services, the Family Support Center also offers relocation assistance, volunteer programs, career assistance and information referrals, just to name a few. The programs available to you while your loved one is deployed are below. For any questions about any of the programs please call the Airman & Family Readiness Center at (310) 653-5428. Morale Calls To help you stay in touch with your significant other, the Airman & Family Readiness Center has the "Hearts Apart" morale call program. Once you are registered through the Family Readiness Office, you can make two 15 minute phone call per week from your home to your spouse's deployment or reassignment location by simply calling the base operator at (310) 653-1110. Monthly Spouse Event Every month the Airman and Family Readiness Center holds an event to help gather all the deployed spouses to congregate with each other. These events may be a trip to the zoo, a BBQ, whale watching, and other family fun events. All of these events are paid for by the private organization "Friends of the Airman and Family Readiness Center". Operation "Sweet Dreams" Would you like a pillowcase with your family member's image on it? If so, the Airman & Family Readiness Center can make it happen. Please send a family photo to the A&FRC. Photos are also taken at the monthly Deployed Spouses Event. Volunteer Programs One way to make getting through a deployment easier is to keep yourself busy. We have a wealth of volunteer programs that need your help. By volunteering, you not only keep yourself busy, but you gain valuable experience and help to build a strong community. Air Force Aid In the event of an emergency, the Air Force Aid Society offers financial assistance in the form of grants and interest-free loans. The distribution amounts are based on the need and the situation. Spouses will need a Power of Attorney in order to qualify. Contact the Air Force Aid Officer . Welcome Home Posters Do you have a loved one returning home soon? Stop by the Airman & Family Readiness Center to sign out a Welcome Home Poster that's already premade. All you have to do is write your loved one's name on it with a dry erase marker.
