Mission Provide consolidated MILSATCOM tracking, telemetry and command capability for 14th Air Force / 50th Space Wing launch and early orbit, on orbit and anomaly resolution operations.

Background

The Command and Control Branch directs the Command and Control System-Consolidated (CCS-C) program and is responsible for S-Band satellite command and control system development for most MILSATCOM systems. CCS-C is the command and control system of record for Military Strategic and Tactical Relay (Milstar), Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS), Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) and Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellites. Ultimately, the CCS-C program will control over 26 military communications satellites across four families, using state-of-the-art commercial telemetry, tracking and commanding (TT&C) technology. As of June 2012, CCS-C supports eight DSCS satellites, five Milstar satellites, four WGS satellites and two AEHF satellites.

Features

CCS-C consists of high specification, commercially available computer servers and workstations running commercially available TT&C software on a local area network-based client/server architecture. CCS-C is interoperable with the Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) and the Wideband Satellite Operations Management System Network (WSOMSNet). CCS-C enables customizable Task Automated Operations, which dramatically reduce operator workload and crew size. CCS-C is operational at: Air Education Training Command's 533rd Space Training Squadron at Vandenberg AFB, Calif.; and U.S. Space Force's 14th Air Force / 50th Space Wing / 3rd and 4th Space Operations Squadrons at Schriever AFB, Colo. A CCS-C Backup Satellite Operations Center at Vandenberg AFB is available for contingency operations.
