Base swimming pool to open May 25 Published May 23, 2007 By Autumn Baldwin 61st Air Base Group Services LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE -- The heated outdoor pool at Fort MacArthur will come to life at noon, May 25, as it opens for the 2007 season. Located across the street from the Community Center, the base pool will be open on weekends from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from noon to 8 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. It will be closed on Wednesdays for maintenance. Lap swimming has been scheduled from 6 to 8 a.m. Mondays and Fridays. Swimming lessons will be available weekdays starting June 18 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Sign-ups begin June 11. Group lessons will be $20 per person for four hours of instruction. Private lessons will also be available at $60 per person for four hours. All guests will pay $2 for daily use of the pool. Season passes can be obtained at the pool starting opening day. Ranks O-4 and up will pay $70 for a family season pass or $35 for an individual season pass. E-3s through E-8s will pay $60 for the family pass or $30 for the individual pass. Ranks E-5 through E-7 will pay $50 or $25. E-4s and below will pay $40 or $20. The pool can be reserved for personal and organization events. The cost for 50 people with a two-hour minimum is $105. Each additional 50 people will cost the host $55. The pool can also be reserved for WarFit use with a written approval from the Mission Support Group. The sponsoring organization will be required to provide the certified lifeguard(s). The pool is open to everyone with military identifications having access to Fort MacArthur and their guests.
