CGOs and Senior NCOs Combine Forces for Lunch and Learn Series Published March 24, 2009 By Master Sgt. Madinah McKinney 61st Mission Support Squadron LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Los Angeles Air Force Base Company Grade Officers and Senior Noncommissioned Officers learned about the Senior NCO Promotion Process while enjoying pizza at a recent Lunch and Learn session held here. SNCO Professional Enhancement seminars were usually held once a year, coinciding with the master sergeant promotion list release. Under Air Force Space Command's Year of Leadership Initiative, one of the tasks is to integrate SNCO and CGO professional development. The combined Lunch and Learn series was born out of this initiative. Master Sergeant Melvin Rose, 61st Mission Support Squadron superintendent, facilitated the SNCO Promotion Process discussion. Colonel Anita Latin, 61st Air Base Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Stephen Ludwig, SMC's Chief Master Sergeant attended the session to provide a senior leader perspective. A Lunch and Learn session is planned every other month with discussion topics coming from the list of mandatory lessons taught at the SNCO PE seminar. A different commander will be invited to each session to share their perspective. The next Lunch and Learn is scheduled for March 27 at 11:30 a.m. It will be held in Bldg. 272, 2nd Floor, Rm. C2-201. The discussion topic is the Mentoring and Counseling process facilitated by Senior Master Sgt. Nick Dober, 61st Mission Support Group superintendent. All Los Angeles area CGOs and SNCOs are invited to attend.
