Base Population:
Los Angeles AFB is the only active duty installation in Los Angeles County. In addition to persons assigned to SSC and SBD3, Los Angeles AFB serves all military branches and their family members in the Greater Los Angeles area.
Base Services:
- FSS: Recreation at Los Angeles AFB and Fort MacArthur includes a pool, two fitness centers, tennis, and outdoor activities.

Child Development Centers:
Los Angeles AFB's Child Development Center provides care for children six weeks through five years of age. CDC programs include full time care and drop in care. The Family Child Care program offers home-based child care in licensed homes for children ages two weeks through twelve years: (310) 653-6800
Medical Services:
Medical care for Los Angeles AFB members is provided by the 61st Medical Squadron in Bldg. 210. A satellite clinic is located at the Fort MacArthur military housing area. Emergency medical care is not available at either clinic. Ensure you update yours and your dependents region to Tricare West online or by calling: 1-844-866-WEST (1-844-866-9378). Schools:
Students can attend local schools based on where they live however, California law allows exceptions for military children to attend schools of their choosing if the school approves a pupil transfer. Youth Programs:
The Teen Center/Youth Center at Los Angeles AFB are the best in the Air Force, a model for all other bases! The Junior Teen program is designed for youth 13-15 years old, while the Senior Teen Club is for youth 16-18 years old. Activities include: Competitive Sports, Aerobics, Table Games, Computer/Homework Center, Cultural Field Trips, Teen Chatter, and Youth Advisory Council Members. Both Junior and Senior Clubs are located at the Fort MacArthur Teen Center, Building 425.

Base Transportation:
There is no shuttle bus service between Los Angeles AFB in El Segundo and base housing at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro. The Metrorail Green Line (from Norwalk to Redondo Beach) has a stop conveniently located one block from the main gate at the Douglas Street station with a connecting LAX shuttle bus at the Aviation/LAX station. There are also vanpools which can be utilized by personnel commuting to and from LA AFB & Fort MacArthur. Shuttle service between Los Angeles AFB and LAX is operated by Aerospace Corporation and runs every 20 minutes from 5:40 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The shuttle travels from the Aerospace Corporation to LAX and back.
Parking:
Some parking spaces at Los Angeles AFB are reserved during duty hours. There are numbered or reserved parking spots for key personnel. All other unnumbered/unlabeled parking spaces are open for employee/customer use. Parking by the BX/Commissary is for those customers only. Due to security and space concerns at LAAFB, Overnight Parking (TDY Parking) at LAAFB base is restricted to the following categories. Active Duty Member: USAF, Active Duty Member: USSF, Employees (CIV & CTR) of LAAFB
Additionally, overnight parking requirements include: Parking may be no more than 29 days unless authorized by 61 CELS leadership, An emergency Point of Contact (POC) with base access must be provided, POV must be parking in the Base Parking Structure (B/292) on levels 4, 5, or 6.
