Los Angeles AFB Pharmacy The Los Angeles Air Force Base pharmacy is located in the main lobby of the 61st Medical Squadron in Bldg. 210. The pharmacy serves active duty service members, family members, and over 200,000 retirees throughout the South Bay beach communities and greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Los Angeles AFB pharmacy dispenses more than 105,000 prescriptions a year, which averages 8,300 to 8,500 prescriptions a month. The Los Angeles AFB pharmacy system will tell you when your prescriptions will be ready for pick-up. Please wait until that date and time before you attempt to pick up your order. You will have the option to pick up your refills at one of the following locations: - The main Los Angeles AFB pharmacy - ScriptCenter at the Army & Air Force Exchange Service's Food Court area - Fort MacArthur (located in San Pedro, approximately 20 miles southeast from Los Angeles AFB) ScriptCenter The ScriptCenter Express Prescription Refill and Pickup Center is an automated refill dispensing machine located in the AAFES Exchange's Food Court area. Refills can be picked up Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. New, controlled (narcotic), and refrigerated prescriptions can't be sent to the ScriptCenter. NOTE: A prescription number is required to register for ScriptCenter; registration is required one time during initial use. Once a prescription is ordered through the ScriptCenter, it will be available for pick-up the next duty day after 2 p.m. Los Angeles AFB Formulary System Civilian/off-base prescriptions will be filled if the pharmacy stocks the item. If it's in stock, the patient must submit the paper prescription to the pharmacy. NOTE: The pharmacy now accepts electronic prescriptions. Let your provider know that our electronic pharmacy name is, "DoD Los Angeles AFB E-Pharmacy." The Refill line is (310) 653-CURE (653-2873) Changes to TRICARE Pharmacy benefit -- Effective Oct. 1, 2015, a new law requires all TRICARE beneficiaries, except active duty service members, to get select brand name maintenance drugs through either TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery or from a military pharmacy. Beneficiaries who keep using a retail pharmacy for these drugs will have to pay the full cost. TRICARE Pharmacy copays change Feb. 1, 2016 -- Military pharmacies and TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery will remain the lowest cost pharmacy option for TRICARE beneficiaries when some TRICARE pharmacy copays change in 2016. On Feb 1, 2016, most copays for prescription drugs at Home Delivery and retail network pharmacies will increase slightly. The 2016 National Defense Authorization Act requires TRICARE to change its prescription copays. All drugs at military pharmacies, and generic drugs through Home Delivery, are still available at no cost to beneficiaries. Copays for brand name drugs through Home Delivery increase from $16 to $20, for up to a 90-day supply. At retail pharmacies, generic drug copays go from $8 to $10, and brand name drug copays go from $20 to $24 dollars, for up to a 30-day supply. Copays for non-formulary drugs and for drugs at non-network pharmacies will also change. Beneficiaries can save up to $208 in 2016 for each brand name prescription drug they switch from retail pharmacy to Home Delivery. TRICARE Changes OTC Medication Coverage -- Effective Feb. 1, 2016, TRICARE is making some changes to its over-the-counter drug coverage. Beneficiaries must pay the usual generic copays for covered OTC drugs. OTC drug coverage will still require a prescription from their doctor except for Levonorgestrel (the emergency contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy).
