Air Force twins receive French Legion of Honor for WWII service
A vintage photo of retired Air Force Reserve Majs. Raymond “Glenn” Clanin and Russell “Lynn” Clanin in front of a PT-19 Trainer at the Aviation Cadet program at Michigan State College. They received their advanced training at various bases and were commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants, receiving their wings in August 1944 at Ellington Field, Texas. Seventy-one years later, the 92-year-old twin brothers are recipients of the French government's highest distinction for their military service as World War II veterans, the Legion of Honor medal, presented by Christophe Lemoine, French consul general in Los Angeles, during a ceremony held at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, Calif.
