Base inducts newest Senior NCOs

Los Angeles Air Force Base "first-ever" evening event took place in the Gordon Conference Center, Aug. 4, with a Senior Noncommissioned Officer's Induction Ceremony to honor the base's newest Master Sergeant selectees.

Retired Chief Master Sgt. Marlyn Bonacker, a World War II former Prisoner of War, was the guest speaker. Chief Bonnacker has close ties to the Space and Missile Systems Center and Los Angeles AFB. He is the father-in-law of Lt. Gen. Michael Hamel, SMC commander.

During his speech, the Chief shared his experiences and relationships with several role models and mentors from throughout his career. He said the lessons he learned from the World War II era are the same as the lessons that are essential for leaders today.
