SMC Team, Individual Tops in AF Contracting Published April 29, 2016 By Alicia Garges SMC Public Affairs LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- A Space and Missile Systems Center team and one individual were recently announced as winners of the Air Forces' Fiscal Year 15 contracting awards. Allana Duong was named winner in the Outstanding Pricing Award category. She was cited for achieving "Better Buying Power" objectives in multiple procurements, which saved the Air Force more than $1 billion. The entire Space Superiority Systems Contracting Division was awarded the Larry Kabase Memorial Excellence in Classified Contracting Award. The award is named in honor of Larry Kabase, who epitomized innovative business practices, and demonstrated mentoring and leadership skills by maximizing team problem solving. Kabase died in 1988 after 25 years of exceptional service in Air Force contracting. The team award is based on 70 percent mission accomplishment, and 30 percent innovation or process improvement results. "These accomplishments are a testament to their hard work and recognition of the excellence they contribute each and every day to our mission at SMC. Please join me in congratulating Allana and the SYK team," said Lt. Gen. Samuel Greaves, Air Force Program Executive Officer for Space and SMC commander. The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held at a later date.
