Base Personnel to Represent Air Force at Inter-Service Chess Competition Published May 29, 2007 By David Porter 61st Mission Support Squadron Services Los Angeles Air Force Base -- Los Angeles Air Force Base's Lt. Col. Douglas Taffinder, Global Positioning Systems Wing, will be one of six players to represent the Air Force in the upcoming inter-service chess competition at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, June 10- 16. Of the six finalists in the Air Force Chess Tournament recently conducted at Davis Monthan AFB, Ariz., three were from Air Force Space Command. In addition to Colonel Taffinder, the other AFSPC representatives are Staff Sgt. Robert Bucholtz, Schriever AFB, Colo., and Tech Sgt. Nathaniel Ola, Vandenberg AFB, Calif. Winners of the inter-service contest will represent the United States military at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization tournament scheduled for August 7.
