Sexual Assault Awareness Fair to Be Held

In observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Los Angeles AFB Helping Agencies including SAPR, Family Advocacy, HAWC, EO and A&FRC will be hosting an Outreach Fair in the SMC Courtyard on April 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year's theme is "Making a Difference in the Lives of Others." The fair promotes awareness and aids in prevention efforts that significantly impact our community as a whole.

Chapel Group Planning Grand Canyon Trip

The Chapel Singles group and airmen from Luke, Davis-Monthan and other Air Force bases in the Southwest will be traveling to the Grand Canyon for a weekend of fellowship, renewal, relaxation and adventure, May 2 through 4.

The cost is $30 and includes transportation campsite, tents, sleeping bags and comfort mats will be provided, as well as, all our meals including a post-hike dinner Saturday evening. The hikes on Saturday vary from just a few miles to 8 miles, 12 miles, and even 17 miles roundtrip, in and out of the Canyon. There are shops, restaurants, museums and scenic views to be enjoyed on the South Rim, not far from the campsite. There will be a spiritual element to the trip with worship and messages on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Space is limited. Sign up in the Chapel Office.

Month of the Military Child

Military Child Fun Fest will be held Friday, April 11, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Fort MacArthur Hall. The free carnival-like event will feature game and activity booths, bounce houses, hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, and base agency information booths. Both military and DoD families are welcome to attend. Volunteers are needed for this event. Retiree Expo to Be Held, April 19

A retiree expo will be held at the Gordon Conference Center, April 19. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food, prize drawings, bingo and booths providing information about local businesses, LAAFB organizations and other Federal agencies. For more information, call (310) 653-5794.

Outdoor Rec Plans Hike to M*A*S*H Film Site

Take a 5 mile hike in the Santa Monica Mountains to the site where the TV show M*A*S*H was filmed with Outdoor Recreation, April 19. The trip costs $15 and includes transportation and entrance fees. Bring sun block, good hiking shoes and plenty of water. Day packs will be available for those people that need one. For more information, call (310) 653-6852.


Ticket Office Offers Deals

Tickets for various local attractions and movie theaters are for sale at discounted prices. Discounted weekday lift tickets to Big Bear resort are now on sale. The Ticket Office is located in the cashier's office in The Club (Bldg. 270). Call (310) 653-1304 for more information. Outdoor Recreation is still the place to go to rent equipment and sign up for adventure trips; however, discount tickets are no longer sold at Outdoor Adventures.

LAAFB Toastmasters Club Meetings Held

The club meets every Wednesday, noon to 1 p.m. Meetings are held in Bldg. 271, 3rd Floor, Rm. B3-642. For more information, call Cleve Carter (310) 416-9898 Ext 138.

Airman's Attic Now Open

The Attic is located in Bldg. 37 on Fort MacArthur. Operating hours are Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6 to 8 pm. There are no weekend hours. For more information, call (310) 653-6767 or (310) 221-0909.
