Chief Master Sergeant Michael W. Deiderich is the Senior Enlisted Leader for Space Base Delta 3, Los Angeles Air Force Base. He serves as the principal advisor to the Commander on all matters concerning morale, welfare, utilization, readiness, professional development, and training for five squadrons and 12 staff agencies supporting over 7,000 personnel located at seven geographically separated facilities in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area with $1B in physical plant assets and a $63M annual budget. The installation serves as the host and supports Space Systems Command, a Space Force Field Command that executes a $15B space acquisition mission.
Chief Deiderich enlisted in the Air Force in June 2001 from Tipp City, Ohio and completed Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB, Texas. He graduated from Aerospace Maintenance Apprentice technical training at Sheppard AFB, Texas in February 2002. He has served in a variety of positions at the squadron, group, wing, and major command levels. His extensive background in aerospace maintenance includes serving as Flying Crew Chief, Maintenance Instructor, Wing Plans & Exercises Superintendent, Lead Production Superintendent, Aircraft Maintenance Unit Superintendent, Quality Assurance Superintendent, and Maintenance Superintendent. His assignments include bases in Arkansas, Japan, Florida, Guam, Washington, and Colorado. He has significant Mobility Air Forces and special operations experience including deployments in direct support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, and INHERENT RESOLVE. Prior to assuming his current position, Chief Deiderich served as the Senior Enlisted Leader, Dean of Faculty, at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado.
