GPS III SV 3 Encapsulation
The GPS III SV03 satellite is encapsulated within a SpaceX payload fairing June 21 in preparation for its upcoming launch. Encapsulation protects the satellite against the impact of dynamic pressure and aerodynamic heating during its journey through the earth’s atmosphere, and supports the satellite’s ability to communicate until separation from the launch vehicle on-orbit.
