Heritage Event

U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. (Ret) Wilbert “Doug” Pearson, the only aviator ever to destroy a satellite using a weapon from the belly of an F-15, was the guest speaker at the Space Superiority Systems Directorate’s 60th Heritage Anniversary event, held at the Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif., Sept. 29, 2014. General Pearson was the pilot for the F-15 ASAT test conducted in 1985. SMC/SY's predecessor SPO (then known as SD/YNX) was the program office responsible for the F-15 ASAT program and was instrumental in the success of that test. (Photo by Joe Juarez)
