Operation Welcome Home
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (center) delivers a speech surrounded by Lt. Gen. John “Tom” Sheridan (left), Space and Missile Systems Center commander, other flag officers and service members, and state cabinet members at the Operation Welcome Home kick-off aboard the U.S.S. Midway in San Diego, June 3. The mission of California’s Operation Welcome Home is to directly connect with the 30,000 veterans annually returning to California so they can access the benefits they have earned and the services that can help them transition successfully from military service to civilian life. Governor Schwarzenegger has targeted $20 million to hire 325 people to directly reach out and connect with combat veterans. (Photo by Joe Juarez)
