LAAFB Remediation Project
A technician checks the soil vapor extraction system located at the site of the old AAFES gas station on Los Angeles AFB, March 10. Sampling at the site found vapor phase residual petroleum constituents and methane impacting soil and groundwater. An SVE system was selected as the remediation method. A pilot test is being conducted to collect air flow, radium of influence and mass removal rate data for the design of a full-scale SVE system. (Photo by Jim Gordon)
