SMC Unit, Individual Named Best in AFSPC

An SMC individual and unit have been the named the best of the best within Air Force Space Command. Both winners will go on to represent the command at the Air Force-level.

Robert Reynado from the 61st Force Support Squadron was named AFSPC's Section Chief of the Year. He was cited for his management of 35 NAF cost centers, totaling $3 million in revenue and $2 million in expenses across eight activities. Additionally, his efforts added $175,000 to the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Fund.

The 61st Air Base Group is this year's AFSPC Resource Management Program of the Year. The ABG developed an FY14 appropriated funds spend plan, which prioritized more than $1 million in mission requirements while negating funding shortfalls. Additionally, the group was cited for making strides in multiple renovation projects such as awarding a $34,400 office renovation contract, executing $15,000 for Club capital purchases including new kitchen equipment and banquet tables, installing CAC readers at the Child Development Center to enhance physical security at the facility, and installing new computer software and hardware in the Club to cut customer checkout time by 50 percent.
