Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif. -- The event celebrated Airmen for their selection to the rank of staff sergeant (E-5), marking their welcome into the Noncommissioned Officer corps. In accordance with Air Force enlisted force structure, the transition to staff sergeant reflects an increased standard of technical competence, operational leadership, and direct supervision over junior Airmen.
