LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. --  "Welcome Home," said Lt. Gen. Thomas Sheridan, commander, Space and Missile Systems Center, "we're glad you're here safely with us."

Surrounded by family, leadership and colleagues, SMC welcomed home its deployed members July 16 in the Gordon Conference Center.

"What a great honor for me to be here today," said General Sheridan. "From the medal presentations, it's easy to see that you're among the Air Force's best and brightest--and believe me, I'm proud to be your commander."

I told the returnees earlier today that by answering their nation's call to arms and deploying, they've joined the select group from this country who are willing to leave their homes and their families to defend the cause of freedom abroad, said General Sheridan.

"It gives me great pleasure to recognize your commitment and your devotion to duty serving our Air Force and our great country," said the general. Again, thanks for your steadfast dedication to service and to our country. Well done. Welcome Home!"
