LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Air Force Base Men's Basketball team, LA Storm, emerged victorious in the Pacific West Military Athletic Conference play-offs with a 66-53 victory over Miramar Marine Corps Base March 14. Led by the Conference Most Valuable Player and co-captain Alex Raco, the Storm withstood the pressure of entering the weekend as the overall number one seed and being the target of intense competition from the other tournament teams.
Taking advantage of a first-round bye earned during league play, the Storm defeated Edwards AFB , 71-65, followed by a win over a pesky Miramar team,69-60. The team's defense jump-started the play and physically wore down the opponents before the team's offense, littered with scoring options, took over.
The Storm would like to thank the entire LAAFB community for its support and well-wishes as the team prepares to win the inaugural National Military Athletic Association "Elite Eight" championship in San Antonio, Texas, April 9 through 11.
